Anguilla Culinary ExperienceMay 23rd - 26th we joined fellow foodies and chefs for the Anguilla Culinary Experience's (ACE) third annual festival. This international festival features chefs from Anguilla and around the world, showcasing Anguilla's status as the Culinary Capital of the Caribbean and raising funds for culinary education on the island. Set at D Richard's, the golf-course side restaurant at Aurora, we enjoyed amazing food from Aurora’s six restaurants, all under one roof! It was an evening of cool cocktails crafted with fresh ingredients from Aurora’s hydroponic gardens and food stations from Tokyo Bay, Oliva, D Richard’s, Chef’s Table, Breezes and C Level.
The night was full of fun raffles with grand prizes as big as a luxurious stay in a beachfront junior suite at Aurora Anguilla. This year, Aurora even added a cigar bar with rum tasting and a glass blowing experience. Each year, Aurora elevates this party, making it better than the last. It truly is a must do! Another must do experience is the ACE Beach BBQ + Basket & Bartending Battles.
The grills were hot and the drinks cold at the fan-favorite event. Featured grillers included Paper’s BBQ, Roy’s and Tasty’s POV. The main event? The award-winning Anguilla National Culinary Team and friends squared off in a Chef Basket Battle and Bartending Battle. 5 chefs competed and displayed their knowledge and love of food.
After 45 minutes, 5 plates were placed in front of a panel of chefs who chose the best dishes and cocktails. Lobster BBQ at C Level: NEW YouTube VideoAurora has established itself as a Caribbean culinary destination. Their restaurants are among the island's best. Time and time again, Aurora's talented team of chefs prove that passion prevails as they re-define and set new standards for the entire region. Held every Thursday night, it has long been hailed as one of Anguilla's top weekly events. The value is unbeatable. $85 buys unlimited BBQ lobster and crayfish with a plethora of gourmet mains and side dishes. All served in an elegant beachfront atmosphere, it is as far as you can get from typical "all you can eat" resort buffets.
Right on the sands of Rendezvous Bay, Aurora's C Level is transformed into a gourmet food festival. Dining tables and chairs are elegantly set on the beach. The BBQ's various "stations" sprawl out on C Level's terrace, adjacent to the bar. The welcoming staff seats you at your table, and then? Check your diet at the door. It's time to take a big bite of Lobster BBQ!
"Lobster" receives top billing for this evening. But, it has a terrific supporting cast. This is much more than "just" a Lobster BBQ. Your eyes will pop at the enormous plate of paella, loaded with seafood. Perfectly crisp and full of flavor, the paella will have you coming back for more. It's best enjoyed with Aurora's five-star sides like rice & peas, roasted veggies, roasted corn, and creamy mac & cheese. What a way to kick off Lobster BBQ! Now, time for the main event...
Billowing with sweet-charcoal smoke, one look at the grills and you swear Aurora has hundreds of beautiful Anguillian spiny lobsters on hand. They certainly never run out! Spiny lobsters and crayfish are grilled to perfection.
Aurora's grill master will always suggest you pair your seafood delicacies with a spoonful of lemon butter. The combination comes highly recommended. The lobster meat itself is moist and smoothly separates from the shell. The butter will just about have you licking your plate clean. When your plate is polished? It's time to go back and do it all over again! Reveling in the glow of post-dinner perfection, it is absolutely impossible to not completely overdo it and make at least two visits to the dessert station.
The Crêpes Suzette goes down as best-in-Anguilla. Buttery-soft crêpes are topped with a dollop of ice cream. This is the stuff of dreams. Lobster BBQ is high value. The extraordinary quality of food, excellent and attentive table service and flow of the entire evening is a sheer delight.
Lobster BBQ is an opportunity to experience a cornucopia of Caribbean culinary delights in an atmosphere that blends luxury with unpretentiousness in a classic Anguillian way. This lovely villa is situated in the Sea Rocks, Island Harbour, which is predominantly an upper class residential and villa development area along the northern coast. Almost every home or villa in this area sits high overlooking the sea, quite close to the water's edge and there is a path to the sea. Patricks Bay Villa is a short 3 minute drive to world class and award winning Shoal Bay East beach, one of the most spectacular beaches in the Caribbean. There is access to a small bit of sand in the adjacent land to Patricks Bay, too.
This villa is very spacious and comfortable. All rooms are bright and airy. There are ceiling fans throughout, and the owner recently added a/c units in all the bedrooms.
The living room and separate dining room are large – perfect for relaxation and entertaining. There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms on the main level and a fourth bedroom and bath on the lower level which is only accessed by an outdoor entrance.
The outside gallery extends the length of the house facing the Atlantic Ocean. There is outside dining and comfortable chairs with side tables.
