Anguilla Memories
Under the Tamarind Tree in The Valley

by Sue Ellen Filar
(Glen Arm, Maryland USA)

It has been several years since our last visit to our beloved Anguilla..... We still crave the sweet potato dumplings and homemade soups made by Mrs. Gumbs, available only on Saturday mornings. These yummy treats and Mrs. Gumbs could be found "under the Tamarind Tree in the Valley" - directions given to us by a local Anguillian friend. Simply heaven.....ahhh, the memory.....!

Nori's Reply: Mmm, Saturday mornings and pig tail soup in Anguilla. Nothing beats home cooked West Indian food! Have you ever tried this local Anguilla restaurant that serves true Caribbean cuisine? Dumpling soup, stew, delicious!

Mabels Corn Soup
by: Ellen

We tried to get Mabel's soup on a Saturday morning in late Nov 2009, and she was not there. We arrived at 8:30am, and drove around until 9:30, but she did not show. Does anyone know what time she arrives and departs?
Thanks for all the news Nori.
Ellen
