Night Rainbow on Anguilla

by Brenda
(Hanover, MA, USA)

We have been returning now for 4 trips to Katouche Bay. We love the remoteness of this quiet area. On our first trip it seemed we saw a morning rainbow half of the trip. Now we experience about 2 from our own balcony. One evening about 8:30, (and it's dark then in May) I saw a yellow bow out over Sandy Island. It had been raining a little earlier and the moon was almost fully beginning to wane. The only difference was it was only yellow and seemed to last a bit longer than a day rainbow.
It was truely awesome but I am regretting that I did not attempt a photo as my earlier night landscape attempts weren't showing well.

Little Anguilla keeps me amazed every time I go there.

Nori's Reply: What a special sight! I have never seen a night rainbow on Anguilla, only plenty of day rainbows. The island is nicknamed "Rainbow City", after all. I would love to see what you saw. Katouche Bay is a beautiful spot.

Katouche Bay is a great spot to hunt for shells and cool stones...makes a nice souvenir in addition to the fun shirts at Irie Life
