Review of Roy's Place

by Rob Molloy
(England)

I was in Anguilla in October, 2004 and then again for that Xmas and New Years. What an amazing island! I stayed at the Anguilla hotel, Roy's Place at the bottom of Crocus Hill and it was brilliant.

Superb value for the money - clean, friendly and with air conditioning - what more can an Englishman ask for? Roy's did a great happy hour where the food prices were reduced considerably.

The atmosphere was great and Allan the (English) barman was particularly friendly, as was Robert the parrot.

The apartment I stayed in with a friend was extremely spacious. We each had our own bedrooms with huge double beds, en-suite for both of us, a huge lounge area, a balcony all the way round and a fully equipped kitchen. All of this for about $400 for the week at the end of October.

From what I can tell, Roy's standard of Anguilla accommodations sits nicely between Lloyd's and Arawak.

Just perfect!

Cheers,
Rob

Roys Restaurant Moved, Inn No Longer Exists
by: Nori Evoy

Dave, Roy's closed down the inn and moved the restaurant to Sandy Ground, a very nice "upgrade" and still one of our favorites.

The entire complex was replaced by da'Vida, a magnificent restaurant that does its location on Crocus, proud.

Try up the hill at Lloyd's (the same people who own da'Vida) for wonderful, cheap accommodations.

New Owners at Old Roys?
by: Dave

Nori,

I stayed at Roy's in 2002. Do you know if anyone has taken over ownership of the old Roy's location and if they are still operating the Inn. That was a great location and I can't find it. Hope you can help.

My Vacation at Roys
by: Anonymous

Hi
My name is Paula I have been to Anguilla about 11 -12 years ago.. yeah a long time .. Niah Roy's Neice was about 7 at the time .. we invited her to a birthday party of one of the kids from our apartment ...
She spent the summer with us, going back and forth to the beach and hanging with us in our apartment ..
I still have some pics with her in it..
I was wondering if the girl in the pic online is Niah ..if it is, its great seeing you again ;;;

In all my summer vacations abroad ..and all the fancy apt and hotels I have stayed at, Roy;s place was the most memorable... Everything was just perfect there ...

Each time i speak of a vacation, i speak of Anguilla and Roy;s Place in Particular .. whenever a customer or visitor to my island mention a place for vacation .. .Anguilla pops up with Roys Place and that beautiful beach with the dog named sugar on it :)

The place looks reel nice .. has been improved over the years ..i hope to be back soon to visit ..

However i cant see where it says to book .. or call

peace

Roy's' Still Got It!
by: Nori

Thank you so much for your comment!

I missed Roy's and Crocus Bay after the restaurant moved over to Sandy Ground. Now, Da'Vida graces the calming shoreline. (What a great, tranquil spot, too!)

As for Roy's? I still can't get enough. Whether it's their fish and chips or Sunday roast... It's definitely one of the tastiest restaurants on the island!

Roy's moved
by: Anonymous

Roy's moved a few years ago to Sandy Ground. They kept their famous fish & chips, lobster bisque and a few other favorites, but build an otherwise new menu around an open air grill.

Roy's continues to be a great place to eat and visit and happy Hour continues Friday nights at the new location.

I love AXA and always have a few meals at Roy's when I'm there, I highly recommend it!

I think Roy's is closed
by: Nori

Roy's Restaurant on Crocus Bay has been closed for a while now. So I'm guessing the little hotel out back is, too.

What a shame. It sounds like a wonderful cheap little inn, and it's on a perfect beach, always perfectly calm.

Roy's Restaurant is on Sandy Ground now, but there's no inn attached.

Nori
