Sand Key Beach is right next to the jam-packed Clearwater Beach, Florida.
A secret of the locals who avoid Clearwater, Sand Key Beach has absolutely gorgeous white sands and turquoise ocean.
Since it's on the West coast of Florida, the sunsets are a daily event. (Sunrises occur too early, don't you think?)
I grew up there on the Gulf of Mexico. I can only swim in warm ocean water so the Florida Gulf coastline, and Sand Key in particular, is the beach for me!
Now I live in Nova Scotia now and I honestly can't say that I enjoy the beaches here, too cold!!!
Nori's reply: Kim, we love Nova Scotia. Actually Hirtle's Beach is on our Top 10 list of best beaches worldwide. And I know what you mean about being "too cold." Brrrr. Painful. But Nova Scotia makes up for it in scenery.
(Another Florida beach is on that page, too.)
I'll have to visit Sand Key! I've added it to my list. Thank you so much for sharing YOUR favorite beach, it must have many pleasant childhood memories.
