Shoal Bay Dreams

Whenever I'm sittin' around dreaming about the Carribean (which is often,) Shoal Bay East always floats into my imagination. There's nothing better than swimming around, about 15 feet out from shore, just watching the clouds drift by. When I get good and ready, I swim ashore, sit down in a beach chair and watch the other beachlovers go by, or just focus on that beautiful translucent, azure blue water...
I've been to many beaches in my life (including the Spanish, French and Italian Riviera) and none compare in simple beauty to Shoal Bay East. But back to my reverie...
If we can muster up the energy, my wife and I will walk the length of the beach and enjoy every white, powdery inch of it. After lunch, we will bring our snorkels and fins down and do a little snorkeling. Only a few feet off the beach, schools of colorful fish swim by, aparently oblivious to the human onlookers. Occasionally, a small ray will dust off its cover of sand and dart down the beach a few feet looking for a better place to hide.
The afternoon flies by and soon we are thinking about dinner. Maybe we'll try one of the beach shacks or venture up to the Allamanda and listen to Chef Shamash sing as he whips up a lobster dinner or other delectable Carribean creations.
Just another wonderful day at Shoal Bay East. Truly, one of the nicest beaches in the world.
Nori's Reply: Thanks Don for this wonderful account! Shoal Bay is magnificent.
On one of our lazy Shoal Bay beach days, my Dad was hoping to get some "floating" in... He loves just drifting along the surface of the still water... But, no luck!
The waves are enormous here in December and January. Too bad for Dad, but we still had fun jumping into the waves, trying to ride them all the way in.
I uploaded a picture of one of my friends, and his friend. They brought their skimboards to Shoal Bay that day. It was pretty neat watching them travel across the sand, into the waves. Hopefully I'll learn someday.
